Specific Objectives: By the end of the lesson, the pupils should be able to:

  1. Count number 1- 180 and number endings 9 - 150
  2. Write Number in words 1-10
  3. Identify fractions ½ and whole

Instructional Materials: Counters, flash cards 

Instructional Techniques: Explanation, demonstration, repetition, questions and answers 

Entry Behaviour:  The teacher arouses them with number rhymes

Periods I-II: Counting of numbers 1-180 number endings 9 – 150

Periods III: Writing number in words 1-10

She writes out the numbers 1-10 and their spellings on the board and recites it severally

The pupils learn number spellings 1-10

Periods IV- V: Introduction to fraction ½ and whole, simple addition

The teacher introduces the plus (+) sign and tells the pupils it is used in adding together.

Then she does some pictorial examples of simple addition
