SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to

  • Define Meaning of Dance
  • List the Types of Dance

INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNIQUES: Identification, explanation, playway method, questions and answers, demonstration

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS: The Teacher uses Musical instrument like Drums, Gong, xylophones etc, Pictures of dancers performing, DVD and television

INTRODUCTION OF THE TOPIC

The teacher introduces Dance as the movement of the body to rhythm of a music

She uses a television, sound recorder to dance to specific beat of a song as the pupils follow are body movement

TYPES OF DANCE

  1. Foreign Dance- This is a non-Nigerian dance
  2. Traditional Dance- This is the dance that represents our culture and traditions

EVALUATION: 1) Identify one Traditional dance in your area

2) State two types of Traditional dance that is common in your community

CLASSWORK: As in evaluation
CONCLUSION: Teacher commends the pupils positively and marks their books
